Mindfulness in our Lives
Mindfulness is a practice that helps you become comfortable in most situations, by using acceptance and inner peace. It used to be a way for those suffering as a result of a disease to face it better. Its use became popular as a way of coping with life’s daily challenges. It has since found application in many areas, apart from the initial medical areas. Mindfulness us the state in which you are aware of what is happening presently, without imposing your opinion of it.
You thus get to deal with whatever it is in the best manner possible. You do not allow yourself to wallow in pain and pity, or to make comparisons to better times, which is usually what triggers most of the pain. Comparisons always highlights the deficits in these situations. This then makes you reject yourself, which brings frustrations and pain. You will thus be left to think of ways of making it better, since there are no negative feelings left. You need first to accept a situation before you find a way to deal with it. There is hardly any success if you were to go any other route.
When facing a challenging situation, focusing on the negatives hardly ever yields anything positive. You should, however, find yourself in a worse off state. This shall go on for so long that any positive intervention shall have to be immense if it to give any positive outcome. The quality of our thoughts has a lot to determine the quality of our lives. Those areas you mostly focus on are the areas your life is most likely to head towards.
To help you overcome any adversity, it is best to focus on all efforts to get better. This is accelerated by the positive and kind thoughts you have. You can even go out of your mind and think of positives form other areas. A way to do so is to think of your loved ones and how grateful you are they are in your life. This induces positive reactions in tour body as healing work continues. You shall thus stay mindful of your thoughts in terms of their type and quality, as you aim for those higher levels. Dopamine and oxytocin are chemicals that get released when your mind is flooded with positive thoughts. This causes your mind to stay calm and in a healing mode.
Education in mindfulness helps you develop the right mindset and tools for keeping your mind at peace and focused. There are certain tools such as chants you can learn to use, to manage the desired state.
